MWK Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice applies to the information that Stanford University’s Career Education (“CareerEd”) collects and uses when you visit the Meaningful Work Kit website (mwk.stanford.edu) ("Site"). This Notice describes how this information is processed, as well as the choices that are available to you regarding the use of the personal information you provide.

What We Collect and Use

Personal information is any information related to an identified or identifiable individual. We are committed to protecting your privacy, and only collect personal information that you voluntarily provide through the Site, which includes only information entered in the pre-assessment questionnaire and your responses to assessment exercises in free text form. We do not require you to input any personal information.

How We Store Data

A random string is created to identify your browser session and is associated with both your questionnaire data and your exercise answers. This string is stored only on our servers and does not travel with you when you browse other sites. It is only known by the session cookie (see "Cookie Policy" section below), which is deleted either by clearing your cache or closing your browser.

Your IP address is logged in the web server for security purposes but is in no way associated with your answers and is not used to identify you as an individual. Logs are retained for 30 days. Stanford University is committed to processing your personal information in a secure manner and use of specific technical and organizational measures to prevent any personal information from accidental or deliberate compromise.

What We Do With Your Data

CareerEd will only collect your responses to our questionnaire for the purposes of understanding the type of user affiliation (i.e. college student, business owner, etc.).

Your assessment exercise answers and data are only kept during your session use while on the Site so you have the ability to save and export your results at the end of the assessment. Your answers are not stored longer than while you use the Site. Your anonymized usage data from your responses, such as the frequency of MWK cards that are selected and which pages are loaded and completed is aggregated for CareerEd to understand trends in career preferences. We may share insights from this aggregated data with the public. Your personal information is only used for this intended purpose.

Data Transfer

CareerEd will not disclose, share or sell your personal information, non-aggregated data or questionnaire and assessment responses with any third parties.

If you are located outside the United States (U.S.) and you access and use this Site, all responses are transferred to the U.S. but your responses and location are not identifiable.

Minor Information

The Site is not intended to be used by persons under the age of 16. CareerEd does not knowingly collect personal information from such persons through this Site.
